On Craftster.org, I shared how I work crocheted fair isle. I thought I'd share it here, too. :)

A few things to note: I basically taught myself how to crochet. I know I hold everything in the wrong way. Please look past this. I'm also not a native English speaker, so excuse some confusion in terminology. Lastly, I expect you'll know some basics in crochet before you start experimenting with this yourself -- although you needn't know too much, as I know next to nothing and managed this, too. ;)

Using images and some explanation with them, I'll try to show you the basics of the fair isle crochet technique I use.

Like all who try to make a living off/will be trying to make a living off their art, I am in need of money.

So I'm contemplating doing commissions.

It is a bit awkward, but I've never done any before, and before I even consider opening time slots for them, I need to know if people would even be interested to begin with.

Fandoms I can cater for:

Discworld

Harry Potter

Sherlock Holmes (various incarnations)

Doctor Who (new!Who)

House MD

Star Trek (various)

I can work in b&w and colour. B&W would be cheapest, obviously, cause watercolours don't cost nothing. Pencil, ballpoint or some india ink, however, is relatively cheap. Also, there's the amount of time spent on b&w V colour to be factored in.

Another thing to consider is whether you want a high quality, printable file sent to your email address, or the actual original. Originals are ALWAYS going to be much, much pricier.

I can accept all manner of currency through PayPal.

Would anyone be interested? Really? If so, please please let me know, and I'll set something up.

Dear me, I do hope my body will not do anything stupid this Saturday. This weekend, it pretty much thought, "Yay, weekend, let's have a holiday", which had me bundled up in a blanket throughout most of Saturday and Sunday. My head was up to nothing, I was even listless enough to not feel like drawing, let alone translating bits for Tibetan.

My body does that every time, mainly during longer holidays, but sometimes even during the weekend. Apparently, it feels it'll get scolded if it becomes ill during the week. Which is true, of course. Big silly thing, it doesn't have business becoming ill.

But this Saturday..! It's the day we'll be visiting the Elf Fantasy Fair! I've been saving up for that! I've been assembling an outfit for it! I've mentally readied myself for the hour in which I'll see Mr Terry Pratchett for real! (Yes, honestly, I've done all that. So I am a geek.) My body shouldn't think it'll get a break, this Saturday! Or this Sunday, for that matter. I'd like to be able to do some Tibetan for a change!

Anyway, where this all leads up to.... Due to bad health, I've not been able to do a lot, art-wise. The thing I'll post NOW (yes, this instant, just after my rant) is about the only thing. I've worked on it for Friday, Saturday, and most part of Sunday (the parts in which I didn't sit snoring on my parents' couch). I hope the Yay!-quality of it will make up for the small amount of other art.

Detail of today's art:

Fandom: Discworld
Title: "Did you wink at me, Drumknott?"
Rating: PG
Medium: Pen
Notes: This one's specially for [info]merrymoll; thank you, ever, ever, ever so much! I hope this suits what you asked for; it was immense fun to make (even if my brains kept going "Bubble, bubble, groig?" at every opportunity). It's entirely in b/w, and has odd things with the fonts going on...
Did you wink at me, Drumknott? )

We-ell, that's it. I hope you all like it. I'm also curious to see if anyone succeeds in making any icons about/with this....

EDIT: A shadier bit... )

And: iconses!

EDIT II: More iconses!

EDIT III: Ahahaha. Yes, another icon, this one thanks to [info]merrymoll;

Of course, I'm still curious as to what you may get up to, icon-wise! ;)

This is specially for Jenny and [info]mini_snape and all those other people who need some cheering up...

Fandom: Harry Potter (with a hint of Discworld)
Title: The Unexpected Snape #1
Rating: PG
Medium: Pencil and pen
Notes: It's insane and has no real explanation. This idea was born while talking to Jenny. I'm hoping to make some more.

I just checked my flist, and there was a message from [info]discworld pointing to the new Paul Kidby cover art for the upcoming DW novel Thud!

You never guess my reaction. Yes, hysteria is back.

Icons were duely made;

(Art from the covers of Thud! and Night Watch, all Vimes.)

I'll be back with more insanely grinning Vimes and immensely annoyed Vetinari, later today.
