Comic Art!
Dear me, I do hope my body will not do anything stupid this Saturday. This weekend, it pretty much thought, "Yay, weekend, let's have a holiday", which had me bundled up in a blanket throughout most of Saturday and Sunday. My head was up to nothing, I was even listless enough to not feel like drawing, let alone translating bits for Tibetan.

My body does that every time, mainly during longer holidays, but sometimes even during the weekend. Apparently, it feels it'll get scolded if it becomes ill during the week. Which is true, of course. Big silly thing, it doesn't have business becoming ill.

But this Saturday..! It's the day we'll be visiting the Elf Fantasy Fair! I've been saving up for that! I've been assembling an outfit for it! I've mentally readied myself for the hour in which I'll see Mr Terry Pratchett for real! (Yes, honestly, I've done all that. So I am a geek.) My body shouldn't think it'll get a break, this Saturday! Or this Sunday, for that matter. I'd like to be able to do some Tibetan for a change!

Anyway, where this all leads up to.... Due to bad health, I've not been able to do a lot, art-wise. The thing I'll post NOW (yes, this instant, just after my rant) is about the only thing. I've worked on it for Friday, Saturday, and most part of Sunday (the parts in which I didn't sit snoring on my parents' couch). I hope the Yay!-quality of it will make up for the small amount of other art.

Detail of today's art:

Fandom: Discworld
Title: "Did you wink at me, Drumknott?"
Rating: PG
Medium: Pen
Notes: This one's specially for merrymoll; thank you, ever, ever, ever so much! I hope this suits what you asked for; it was immense fun to make (even if my brains kept going "Bubble, bubble, groig?" at every opportunity). It's entirely in b/w, and has odd things with the fonts going on...

We-ell, that's it. I hope you all like it. I'm also curious to see if anyone succeeds in making any icons about/with this....

EDIT: ...i.e., the last three panels with just a bit more contrast. And, yay! Ugly handwriting!

And: iconses!

EDIT II: More iconses!

EDIT III: Ahahaha. Yes, another icon, this one thanks to merrymoll;

Of course, I'm still curious as to what you may get up to, icon-wise! ;)

Oh, what a beautiful array of lines adorns His Lordship's face! :-) And great facial expressions, both of them! And I totally adore the last frame. Poor exasperated Vetinari!
Was all of this original dialogue from the Truth?
PL0Xlady_twatterby on April 18th, 2005 04:52 pm (UTC)
Heehee, thank you! Sadly, the last panel has become really light in the scan, so I'll try to re-scan that part so the shadows will be visible :S
Yes, it's all original The Truth dialogue. For some reason, it's had me giggling rather badly ;)

Sshh, I often enough do that myself, especially if the art has my name on it... ;)

I adore Drumknott, always have. And your Drumknott is PERFECT.

*glees in it*

*massive fangirlish screaming!*

I'd love to see an "appropriate clothing" icon. Would you mind if I made one?
PL0X: havelock vetinarilady_twatterby on April 18th, 2005 06:39 pm (UTC)
Oh, oh! Thank you! *listens appreciatively to the screaming*
*wonders idly if perhaps the scorpion pit would have the same effect*

Oh, do make it! I'm curious to see what it'll look like! (I like small surprises, myself, as well.)
Ms. Katonicex_ms_katoni171 on April 18th, 2005 06:43 pm (UTC)
Sigh. Why can't *I* have Vetinari as a boss? Ah well. A PA can dream. Lovely art, as always, and hope you're better for the Elf Fantasy Fair! It sounds like it's going to be great fun. I expect a full report when you get back and pictures if you can get them.

PL0Xlady_twatterby on April 18th, 2005 06:53 pm (UTC)
Aww, I do hope you'll get a Vetinari boss sometime in the future!
Oh, yes, pictures! What a marvellous idea! I really need to get a one-way camera, now! Thanks for pointing that one out!
Louiseastolante on April 18th, 2005 06:46 pm (UTC)
I love the second last panel. That line cracked me up in the book!
PL0Xlady_twatterby on April 18th, 2005 06:55 pm (UTC)
Hee, thank you! It did take me some time to figure out what Drumknott's expression would be.

I think this one is my favourite ;)

Can I have an icon?
PL0Xlady_twatterby on April 18th, 2005 10:35 pm (UTC)
Well, why, naturally! If you could credit me when/if you use it, that would be really nice.
ismenia on April 18th, 2005 10:30 pm (UTC)
That is excellent. You draw Vetinari so well. Drunknott too. You're not by any chance into slash are you?
PL0X: indeed vetinarilady_twatterby on April 18th, 2005 10:40 pm (UTC)
Ahahahaha, what a silly question!

Of course I am. Do run off to my Memories. I can particularly recommend the posts marked Backside Comic, Backside Comic Sequel, The Scares of the Ducal Outfit, The Merits of the Ducal Outfit, Art: 2 Vetinari/Drumknott, Art + Fic (V/D> etcetera, etcetera... ;)

Re: Wow
Occasionally, I'm made aware of the fact... :)

Thank you!
Rich Layersrichlayers on December 4th, 2006 08:09 pm (UTC)
Wow! I love your Vetinari!
PL0X: ecstaticlady_twatterby on December 5th, 2006 02:23 pm (UTC)
Thank you! Although honesty forces me to say that he's... evolved slightly over the past year or so... THIS is what I've made of him most recently. :)
Rich Layersrichlayers on December 5th, 2006 03:24 pm (UTC)
Oooh, yes, also very nice! In my mind he's still a bit more... gaunt? Well, I'm not sure that's quite the right word, but you know what I mean. And I can see where you've been influenced... *notes your icon*

Anyway, lovely artwork.
PL0X: hogfather susanlady_twatterby on December 6th, 2006 07:25 am (UTC)
Thank you. *bow* Yes, I know what you mean. :) This just sort of... creapt in... Basically, at some point I drew a comic in which his hair was cut off (by me XD), and there he was...
Rich Layersrichlayers on December 6th, 2006 07:06 pm (UTC)
Wait -- Did YOU do the Vetinari postage stamp?

Because if you did... I am way beyond impressed!!!! (Note unneccesarily punctuation as emphasis!)
PL0X: postmasterlady_twatterby on December 6th, 2006 09:03 pm (UTC)
No, no, I didn't! I believe it was Bernard Pearson himself who did that one. :) (
Rich Layersrichlayers on December 6th, 2006 09:04 pm (UTC)
Okay... I just saw it floating across your livejournal userinfo page, and the thought struck me.

I am still impressed with your art, though! :)
PL0X: indeed vetinarilady_twatterby on December 6th, 2006 09:05 pm (UTC)
Oh, right. No, that used to be my DevArt icon, actually :D

Thank you! Check my DevArt pages, you might enjoy them! ;)

I am sooo passing this along to the WOSSNAME Discworld ezine, along with URLs for your Discworld Deviantart gallery. Brilliant stuff! Stand by for hits :P
PL0X: seal of approvallady_twatterby on December 20th, 2008 09:50 am (UTC)
Eep! Just so you know, it's been a while since I've done anything significantly Discworldly. Ahh, art college, the best deterrent to doing some actual illustrations...
Danielle de Faux: Accentuate the visualpenguin2 on December 20th, 2008 10:19 am (UTC)
Hee! Not to worry - the images endure. That's the point of art, innit :D

For the record, an enlarged version of your Chairman and his patrician is currently serving as both my desktop and phone wallpaper ~cue lots of ohhs and ahhs from all who observe it~ The richness of the colour, and the superb drape of Vetinari's robe, look a treat on a 22 inch screen :-)

All I can give you by way of thanks is a sneak preview of the Hogswatch (or Hogswitch) carol by Weird Alice Lancrevic that's going out in the December issue of WOSSNAME next week. Enjoy ;-)

We three Hags Lancrastian are
Straddling brooms, we travel afar
Hearth and privy, pub and smithy
Casting our spells bizarre

Stars of Lancre, stern in black
Dames in regal pointy hats
Hubwards breezing, nethers freezing
Witches three who've got the knack

Born a Fool, yet destined to reign
Never cruel though sometimes a pain
King well-meaning -- New Age-leaning
Sensible, in the main

Star of Lancre, staunch and meek
Castle sanitation geek
Bells a-clinking, forward-thinking
Modernise your farm techniques

Frank but senseless, soppy am I
Wrinkled gowns and head in the sky
Sweet tomfool'ry, occult jewellery
"Wet as a hen," they sigh

Star of Lancre, star-crossed Queen
Star of herbal research scene
Keen defender, nappy-mender
Keeping Ynci's armour clean

Scumble mine, 'tis boozy perfume
Breath like fire can clear a big room
Girlish in spirit, bawling lyrics
Bawdy and rude -- boom-boom!

Star of Lancre, super-Gran
Head of matriarchal clan
Crude and chummy, Greebo's Mummy
Who can fix things? Nanny can!

Hogswatch parties? Sausages fat?
Ha! I can't be having with that!
Bees I'll borrow near and far, so
I can patrol my patch

Stars of Lancre, wyrd and wise
We've no need to advertise
Maiden, mother, and the... other
Guarding all 'neath Lancre's skies
